A 12 man jury has been empanelled at the High Court presided over by Justice Monfred Sesay to try a case of murder in which Christopher Lavalie, also known as “pigeon” , is accused of murdering Josephus Cornelius Metzger.
State Prosecutors are claiming that Christopher Lavalie murdered Josephious Cornelius Metzger in Freetown on March 22nd 2022.
The Police later arrested and charged Lavalie for the crime of murder.
When he appeared before Justice Sesay on Wednesday 19th October 2022, the accused, Christopher Lavalie pleaded not guilty to murder after the Court Registrar had read the indictment against the accused.
Immediately after the jury had been empanelled, Prosecutor Jalloh was quick enough to ask the Judge for the matter to be adjourned because his witnesses were not in court and for him to be afforded time to meet and confer with them so he could move on with his case.
Defence Lawyer R. S. Bangura did not object to the application made by the Prosecutor; and because the defense did not contend with that application Justice Sesay later adjourned the matter to the 9th of November 2022.
He however cautioned both parties, as well as the 12-man jury to remember date and work within the timeline. He remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
