Sierra Leone: Child Rapper urges parents to support kids with musical talent

Kadiatu B. Sesay  commonly known as Miss Success, a 14-year-old rapper from  the Team Rooy Entertainment label in the east of freetown, has on Friday encouraged parents to support kids with musical talent  in order to explore the world through their gifts.

According to Sesay, music is a profession which  gives  recognition in the eyes of people, builds ones self confidence, and a career  for one to  earn a living.

She emphasized, “Music is not just a hobby,music is a way of life. It changes ones life,changes the world and unite us as nations. We use music to disseminate information to thousands of people. So I encourage parents to support their children that have the gift to live in their dreams.”

she noted that music is not stopping him from going to school, addding that she  gives the required time to her studies  as well as music. “I have recently taken the  BECE  this 2020, and in the future I would like to become a lawyer.”

She explained that, she started singing at age 4, and recorded her first single song which was titled ‘Team Star Get Concern for Salone Pikin Dem’ at age 6 at Palkins recording studio.

Miss Success is the youngest female rapper in Sierra Leone, and she has featured Sierra Leone music stars like: Nigger Don of Lxg, Pizzy formerly Known as P.M, Black Snoop, Pat Man, Wason, Slim G, Chubby Asa and Alieu Melody.

Success revealed that, she has recorded two albums and she is about to complete her third album. She stated that in January 1, 2018, she released her first album ‘Wonder’, and on February 29, 2020 she released her second album, titled ‘We Dae Wait’.

She said, “Music makes me happy even when I’m sad, I sing music in the  showers, school; wherever I go, I go with music.”

She said that she usually admire at Star Zero due to her  unique style of rapping and her choice of words. “Often, I listen to her songs,” she said.

Success said that she usually get inspiration in the surrouding and always  write about things that bring changes. “I don’t rap because I have the talent, but to endorse changes in the society,” she concluded.
