The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education(MBSSE) on Wednesday 13 January, 2021 informed the public that candidates repeating the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2022 could now report at their various schools for registration to retake the exams at the Government’s expense.
The Acting Chief Education Officer, Mohamed Sillah Sesayadvised principals,candidates and the public that only candidates who sat to the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) as public or School candidates for the first time in 2021 are qualified for consideration for the government supported second chance.
He also said that intending candidates would only be allowed to repeat the examinations at the school under which they sat to the examinations in 2021, adding that only candidates who attempted and passed the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) in 2018 and 2019 are eligible to enter for the examination.
“Closing date for the receipt of all entries is 20th January, 2022.The Ministry will not, under any circumstance(s), receive entries from any school beyond the above stated date,” MBSSE emphasized in the release.
MBSSE also appealed toall Senior Secondary School to resubmit comprehensive lists of candidates (Including Repeaters who must be so identified by indicating (R) against their names) to the Ministry through our District Education Offices.

According to final list vetted by the MBSSE the qualified candidates per school would be generated by the School Quality Assurance Management and Resources (SQAMR) Directorate at Head Quarter and provided to the principal to undertake online entry formalities as required by WAEC against the final deadline date of 25th January, 2022.
“In order to provide an opportunity for the inclusion of repeaters in the list of candidates submitted by schools, the Ministry informed Principals of Senior Secondary Schools that all earlier submissions of lists of candidates to the Ministry are effectively nullified,” MBSSE said in the release.
