An accused Yatta Kamara has appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on one count charge of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916
According to the particulars of the offense, the accused on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Cape Road, Aberdeen in Freetown stole one hand bag containing Le13,960,000property of Hyda Hussain Abess.
Led in evidence by sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy, the businessman recognized the accused person and got to know her from a friend.
He recalled that on November 19, 2021, at around 1pm on his way home he met the accused in front of his entrance and pleaded with him for financial help. The witness said that the accused had earlier sent him voice note that she is stranded. He said that he then took the accused home and asked her to massage him which she accepted.
Abess told the court that he took his bag which was containing Le13,960,000 inside his room, and then returned to the parlour for the massage. He said that while being massaged he felt asleep and he woke up in the morning and couldn’t find the accused and his bag which contained his money.
The witness said he made statement at Aberdeen Police Station. He said later the accused arrested and handed over to the police.
The accused, who was not represented by a solicitor, cross-examined the witness.
Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to February 1, 2022 for further hearing.
