The newly appointed Resident Minister for North-West Region, Alhaji Alpha Sahid Bakar Kanu has said on Monday that, he would not necessarily return to the All People’s Congress (APC) party because it seems like the party did not need him any longer.
He made this statement while commenting on his appointment and plans while serving as Minister for the North-West Region.
It should be recalled that in the run-up to the 2018 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, Alpha Kanu was one of 28 candidates aspiring to become flag-bearer of the party.
President Julius Maada Bio appointed Alpha Kanu as Resident Minister North-Western Province on January 11, 2022. He also served as Minister of Presidential and Public Affairs and also Spokesman for the All People Congress political prior to the general elections in 2018.
Alpha Kanu said that President Bio appointed him to serve because he had trust in him, adding that because of the president vision to bring development to the North-West region, he was chosen to push forward the development stride in that region.
“I am a stateman at the moment.I am playing for Sierra Leone. I am an ordinary member of the APC party and not a member of the executive,” Kanu said.
Kanu noted that even if President Bio relieves him of his duties, he would not return to the APC. He said President Bio is driving the vehicle of the nation into the right direction.
