SLSDWA Recommence Training Ahead of Commonwealth Games

The Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Waterpolo Association has recommenced full dry land and open water training at the Aberdeen Beach in Freetown ahead of the Commonwealth’s games and pending FINA competitions.

The Public Relations Officer of SLSDWA, Reginald Brian O. Sawyerr said that due to the renovation work at the Siaka Stevens Stadium which prompted the closure of the Pool they started training elsewhere to gain full fitness.

He explained that the team’s preparedness for the commonwealth games is gradual.

The Head Coach Mr. Sheku Conteh said that the training is geared towards preparing the swimmers physically and mentally for the commonwealth games and FINA pending championship later this year.

He further discloses that thirteen (13) athletes and three (3) officials are on the training list.

Some of the athletes registered their determination and express high hopes of making tremendous improvements in ensuring that Sierra Leone is recognized during the games. The Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Waterpolo Association is the official body recognized for swimming and aquatic activities in Sierra Leone. The Association recently held its elective congress in where the former General Secretary Mohamed Turay was elected President of the Association.
