Emmerson Bockarie popularly Emmerson, a renowned Sierra Leonean music star has recently won the Afrobeat Song of the Year in the second edition of Global Music Awards 2022.
The Global Music Awards is an entertainment event that is organized by Smart Focus Media which seeks to showcase Africans’ talents, promote creativity and award African entertainers for their hard-work and effort in entertainment industry.
The award ceremony was held on Saturday April 16, 2022 at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria and was themed: ‘Be positive with music’.
Emmerson representing Sierra Leone in the event, won among other nations: South Africa, Dr Congo, Ghana, Gambia etc.
He was nominated for three categories including Male Artist of the year alongside Drizilik, Chike of Nigeria, Black Sheriff of Ghana, Mario of Tanzania, Buju, Mannywellz, Fancy Gadam and others.
Also, Emerson was nominated as Afrobeat artiste of the year together with Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ckay, Bella Shumurda; King Promise etc. but emerged as the winner of the category.
At the initial nominations, Sierra Leonean top musicians: Emerson, Drizilik, Star Zee, Fantacee Wiz, Innocent, Rozzy Sokota, Peter A. Komba, Mos B were nominated in different categories in the second edition of the Global Music Awards Africa 2022.
These nominations were appreciated by many Sierra Leoneans as it is an international recognition to appreciate the hard work of musicians and everyone in the entertainment industry who have been playing their roles the industry.
Emerson thanked Sierra Leoneans and Africans for their love and support towards his success. “I thank you Sierra Leone, Africa and the organisers of the Global Music Awards for making it possible,” he said.
