Abu Bakarr Turay Esq. popularly known as Kabaka, the Chief Executive Officer of Kabaka Multimedia and Entertainment (KME), has said on Monday, May 9, 2022 that the 5th edition of ECOFEST will hold on 25th and 26th November 2022.
Kabaka said venue for the event will be communicated later.
ECOFEST is a music festival that usually features musicians mostly from Africa. The festival usually creates a unified African entertainment platform, wherein, every top continental entertainer will have the privilege to share the same stage.
According to Kabaka, Friday, November 25 will be the V.I.P Event whilst Saturday November 26 would be the main event. He said that 10 nations will be represented by at least one artist. “We will furnish our fans with details of the venue in coming weeks,” he said.
Kabaka stated that this year would be a very special for ECOFEST as he will be celebrating their 5th edition since the inception of the brand. He said they owe it all to their numerous fans across the world and most especially Sierra Leoneans who have constantly reminded them that no matter the challenges, their resilience always gives hope to many. He said, “In just four editions (three in Sierra Leone and one in The Gambia), the festival had registered a strong presence across the shores of Africa and beyond. We have gradually replaced the pale thoughts of people who would only associate Sierra Leone with the rebel war, blood diamonds, Ebola and other disasters even uncommon to mankind. Like what Nigeria did with Afrobeats, we believe Sierra Leone has the potential to turn its fortunes with tourism and entertainment. We are not there yet, but we have conquered already.”
He added, “Our mantra has been ‘if they can’t invite us to the big stages, we will create our own platform and ask them to come and see what we have to offer.”’
He said that ECOFEST Sierra Leone is being regarded as the biggest stage, saying that the stage had hosted most of the top entertainment stars around the globe, including: Patoranking, Rema, Guinea’s Takana Zion, Basket Mouth, P-Square, Broda Shaggi; Guchi, Diamond Platnumz, South Africa’s Master KG and many more.
He said, “We will continue to blaze the trail. We will learn from our mistakes, harness loose ends, settle old scores and fight for a united entertainment front in Sierra Leone and Africa. We will continue to strive to make entertainment not only enjoyable but also profitable. Our aim impacts on peace, culture and growth as youths are the majority participants of our festivals.”
According to him, the journey of ECOFEST had been carved to empower young people, give a sense of purpose and remain steadfast in the pursuit of happiness as to make Sierra Leone and continent a better place for children and generation yet unborn.
