Michael Kamara, 29, alias Popcorn, a beggar was on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 sent to the male correctional facility over allegation of phone theft.
The accused made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown on one count charge of Larceny from the person Contrary to section 14 of the Larceny Act 1916
According to the particulars of the offence, on May 8, 2022 at Tolo Night Club, Ogoo Farm in Freetown did steal from person of Amidu Fabai one Tecno Spark 7 mobile phone valued one million eight hundred thousand Leones (1,800,000) .
The charge was read and explained to the accused, and pleaded not guilty
However, Magistrate Gogra refused the accused bail.
The matter was adjourned to May 18, 2022, for further hearing.
