SLCA to receive big Boost from Pals

The Philadelphia Adult League Softball (PALS) has officially announced that it will support the Sierra Leone Cricket Association next month with cricket equipment after receiving donations from several Cricket clubs and organizations.

The support is to further strengthen their partnership, as they are also set to undertake a cross-training of one hundred and fifty (150) young cricketers in a USA Quick ball clinic that will be facilitated by the Philadelphia Adult League Softball (PALS), whilst nineteen of their members will in turn, benefit from cricket sessions from the Sierra Leone Cricket Association.

Chairman Board of Directors of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association Francis Trevor Samura has welcomed the development and tendered his appreciation for the support saying “We are thrilled by this support and want to thank Kelly and the entire team of the Philadelphia Adult League Softball for facilitating this development,” he concluded.

Sierra Leone Cricket Association in recent time has been doing extremely well and has been one of the sporting associations that has not been get government support like other associations.

According to their Facebook handling they stated that “While in Sierra Leone, we are so excited to be partnering with our friends at the Sierra Leone Cricket Association to help get as many young people as possible playing a range of sports! The SLCA is the official governing body for cricket in the country and they have a strong focus on engaging more young people in the sport through a host of outreach efforts and school-based initiatives. However–as with baseball and softball–the expense of equipment is a huge barrier to getting more kids (and adults) playing, and we wanted to support them in any way that we could. We are thrilled to share that several Philadelphia-area cricket clubs and organizations came together to donate cricket equipment that we will be taking with us next month! Thank you so much to Chris Spaeth, player with the Philadelphia Cricket Club and organizer of the Philadelphia International Cricket Festival, for his incredible assistance in securing donations from the 22 Yards Cricket Academy, Philadelphia Cricket Club, Germantown Cricket Club, and Merion Cricket Club. We cannot express how much we appreciate each and every contribution! In addition to providing gear, we will be participating in a cross training with the SLCA where they will introduce our team of 19 to cricket and we will introduce them to softball. We will also facilitate a USA Quickball clinic with 150 of their young cricket players! We truly cannot wait. Thank you again to all of the amazing cricket equipment donors for helping to make all of this possible”
