International Community condemns acts of violence

The International Community has condemned all acts of violence that resulted to the deaths of civilians and security personnel, and destruction of property in several part of the country on Wednesday.

United Nations Resident Coordinator Babatunde Ahonsi expressed serious concerns over the violent incident that occurred in Freetown on Wednesday. He said that citizens should remain calm and that the UN is ready to facilitate dialogue.

The Commission of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS Commission) strongly condemned the violence that resulted to loss of lives.

The commission urged citizens to obey law and called on the authorities ensure that perpetrators of violence are identified and brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The European Delegation in Sierra Leone called on all Sierra Leoneans to refrain from violence and to stay calm as Sierra Leone is recognized as a peaceful country.

The American Ambassador, David Reimer also twitted that they are disturbed on the report of violence in Freetown and elsewhere in Sierra Leone, and urged all citizenry to be calm and restraint on all sides.
