Police Constable Lansana Kamara attached to the Central Police Division has Monday 5th August 2022 led evidence in the ongoing August 10th protests.
The accused persons, including Abubakar Conteh and 5 others, are being investigated by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 for two counts offences of riotous conduct and disorderly behavior.
The 3rd Prosecution Witness (PW3) Police Constable Lansana Kamara recognized the accused in the dock and recalled on the above date when he and his colleagues boarded a vehicle together with a Local Unit Commander (LUC) I.T.Z. Tarawally and left at 9:00hours. Kamara said that on arrival at Regent Road he saw a group of people rioting. He added that they chased after them and they were able to arrest the first accused person.
He said when they proceeded to Abacha Street they came across with another group rioting and they arrested the Fourth accused.
He furthered that at Cock Street they arrested the 2nd, 5th and 6th accused, and the 3rd accused at Siaka Stevens Street respectively.
“They were taken to the said station for investigation and I made statement with regards their arrest,” he said.
During cross-examination Lansana Dumbuya, PW3 confirmed that all the accused had been arrested when they were rioting.
The third prosecution witness added that they received instructions from his superior that there were restrictions for some places on that day.
After Cross Examination the accused persons were remanded back to prison and the accused was adjourned to Friday 9th September, 2022 for further hearing.
