Fashion Designer Accused of Assault

Ms. Zara Ahmed Kargbo, a resident of No. 4 Nurse Horton Drive, Brookfields in Freetown, who is also a fashion designer has been dragged to court by her business partners; Tenneh, Ruth and Martha on a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Zara Ahmed Kargbo is before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.3 on a private criminal summon filed by Halloway and Partners for and on behalf of the complainants; Tenneh, Ruth and Martha.

The charge sheet stated that the defendant Zara Ahmed Kargbo on the 5th August 2022 assaulted the complainants in connection with a Two Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand (old Leones) debt allegedly owed by her for cotton fabrics she had taken on credit from the first complainant, Tenneh`s business shop at No. 33 Macdonald Street in Freetown.

The complainants are alleging that on the 5th of August 2022, they had gone to collect the money owed by Ms. Zara Ahmed Kargbo when she assaulted them.

They were all before the court on counter claims summons filed by their respective counsels.

Ms. Zara Ahmed Kargbo was, on Wednesday the 7th of September 2022, led in evidence by her lawyer.

In her evidence, Zara said that she had been assaulted by the complainant, who in the process, damaged one of her dresses, valued at Five Hundred Thousand (old Leones). She was cross examined by Elisa L. Bangura on behalf of the other defendants, Tenneh and two others.

Bail continues for all parties and the matter was adjourned to the 9th September, 2022 for further hearing.
