FC Kallon’s deserving victories over Les Buffles du Borgou of Benin in two legs has caused them to progress to the second round of the preliminary qualifiers of the Confederations Cup. The victory has set up an encounter with debutants Future F. C. in the second preliminary round of matches in the Confederations Cup which is the second tier of CAF’S Continental Club Competition after the African Champions League.
Last Saturday, September 17th 2022, F. C. Kallon defeated Les Buffles du Borgou of Benin with their signing Alie Conteh scoring a hat-trick at the Samuel Kayan Doe Stadium in Liberia, after having secured an away win in the first leg.
After wasting several glorious chances in the first 30th-minutes of play, mainly from Kwame Nketiah, the Cavaliers managed to nick the tie by a goal from Mahmoud Fofanah in the 42nd minute.
FC Kallon, under the supervision of ex-Sierra Leone international Mohamed Kallon, are through to the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup following their 3-0 win over Les Buffles du Borgou on Saturday.
Mahmoud Fofanah cleverly danced passed his marker and tried to go solo, but his effort was headed in by striker Alie Conteh who headed in the roof of the net in the 64th minute.
The visitors, however, late into the first half, rallied for a goal of their own but couldn’t break down a resilient Kallon defence. They went into the break 1-0 goal down.
After the restart, FC Kallon as the home side maintained good possession of the ball and took the play to their counterpart.
As a result, striker Alie Conteh completed his hat-trick in quick succession in the 65th and 67th minutes, respectively, as they won 4-0 on aggregate and will meet the Egyptian side who needed a late free-kick from full-back Jonathan Ngwem to scrape a 1-0 home win over 10-man Bul FC of Uganda on Saturday.
