FIFA’s Development Manager El Hadji Wack Diop & Madam Fatou Camara , Development Coordinator for West and Central Africa, have completed a three-day working visit to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to fast-track a FIFA sponsored construction of five Artificial Turf and other FIFA projects in Sierra Leone.
Speaking to the Premier News, the Media Officer at the Sierra Leone Football Association, Lamine Tarawally, confirmed that the two FIFA representatives had gone through all the different documents of the various pitches that will be upgraded, and added that they will have to report back to FIFA before the work will start.
He went on to mention the grounds that will be fitted with the artificial turf under the project; they are Approved School grounds, SLFA Academy, Lungi field, Coronation Ground-BO, and Port Loko Town field. He added that when the laying of the pitches would have been completed Football scouts coming to the Country to scout for talents as that had been a big problem over the years because the Country doesn’t have good playing grounds.
He furthered that the playing turfs would not host international matches, but hoped that when the Southern Arena would have been completed Sierra Leone would be hosting International matches.
