Africell Mobile Company has signed Osman Bendu, a contestant in the just concluded 3rd season of Housemate Salone on a one year contract as their Digital Brand Ambassadors on Tiktok.
According to John Konteh, Africell’s Media Manager, Bendu has a huge following which is why Africell secured his signature on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022.
The signing took place at Africell’s headquarters at Wilberforce Village. When he gave a brief background as to why the decision was taken to sign Bendu, Konteh told pressmen that Bendu is one of the finest Tik-Tokers in the Country.
He went on to state that during Bendu’s time in House Mate Season 3, the reality television show where he was spotted as a social media influencer, he brought a rich content to the show, which indicated that his signing will help increase Africell’s followers by way of bringing his comedy into play.
He added that it goes without saying that the new media is the fastest means of information dissemination, and that Osman while using it could help promote Africell’s image as a brand.
In his statement, the Chief Corporate Officer of Africell, Mr. Joe Abass Bangura, said that Osman’s journey through life reflects his as both had struggle in their school days to acquire education.
He Further said that Africell has been doing well in terms of promoting talented young people in Sierra Leone citing , Kelvin Doe, the innovator who used local materials from gutters to invent a radio station as an example of one such people .
He added that Africell bought an air ticket for Doe to travel to the USA and acquire training which enhanced the potentials he had shown in telecommunications.
He mentioned that Africell has changed the lives of so many Sierra Leoneans, and pledge the Company’s commitment to continue to do more, by citing the launching of the Africell Foundation as an indication that Africell is geared towards helping young people.
He further stated that in merely nine months, Osman Bendu was able to build up a following of 82, 000 on Tik-tok. “Comedy is big business that is why it took prominence,” he said.
He said that he watches three comedians daily to relax, and added that it is also therapeutic.
In his response newly signed Digital Ambassador, Osman Bendu, aka Mammy Thomas, thanked Africell for its support towards young people in Sierra Leone.
“I honestly never thought I will achieve such a hit by this time. It has been a hard journey, but by his grace I am slowly coming to it. I promise to make sure I deliver as expected,” he concluded.
