The Ministry of Transport and Aviation on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, requested for a total of NLe 60,437,500 for the 2023 Financial Year (FY), in order to fully facilitate its Gazetted operations.
The Director of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, Hindolo Shaker, made this disclosure while presenting the Ministry’s Budgets Ceiling, during the Financial Year 2022 Policy Hearing process at the Ministry of Finance’s Treasury Building Conference Hall in Freetown.
Presenting the Budget‘s Ceiling in breakdown, in terms of divisions, programmes and amounts which the Ministry will undertake for the 2023 financial year, Shaker disclosed that the Office of the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport needs a total of NLe 2,906,000 million to facilitate their General Administrative and Support Services, Policy and Vehicle Database Development.
He said that the payment outstanding debts for the Office of the Permanent Secretary stands at NLe 55,531, 500.
“The Directorate of Transport which is the professional Wing Ceiling Budget for the General Administrative and Support Services amount is NLe 1,000,000,” he said.
Hindolo Shaker further disclosed that the Sierra Leone Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau will be needing a total of NLe1,000,000 to facilitate operations.
He revealed that the Ministry of Finance approved a total of Le 54,589,200,700, in 2021, and a total of Le 55,588,093,800 in 2022.
Giving the breakdown on the approved budget per division in the Ministry, the Director revealed that the Administrative and Operating Cost at the Office of the Permanent Secretary is Le 2,647,400,700 for 2021 and a total of Le 2,805,993,800 in 2022.
“The approved budgets of Payment of Outstanding Contracts of Government Vehicles was Le 51,532,800,000 in 2021 and a total of Le 51,598,600,000 in 2022.”
He said that the Directorate of Transport approved budgets was Le 409,000,000 in 2021 and Le 1,183,500,000 in 2022.
