The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSCE) together with partners on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, launched Education Knowledge Platform, a hub which will allow policymakers, schools leaders, students and education partners to access useful resources that support them in their work to improve teaching and learning.
Platform holds resources on quality teaching and learning, policies to inform decision making, standards and procedure in schools, research findings and monitoring data to improve performance, information on learning and safety for families and community members, digital learning materials including pupils’ handbooks.
The platform could be accessed on “www.MBSSEknowledge platform.gov.sl”
The hub was developed by Leh Wi Lan programme with support from the UK Aid.
Team Lead of Leh We Lan, Mohamed Barrie, said that the launch of the Education Knowledge Platform was a remarkable event for MBSSE and Teaching Service Commission (TSC), other partners and education sector as a whole.
Barrie said, “Leh Wi Lan, which is a programme that is funded by PCDO [Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office], works with MBSSE/TSC, and other partners to develop a Knowledge Platform that can serve as a centralized and digital repository platform of information and resources for the education sector.”
“The Knowledge Platform is developed after a careful consultive process that includes MBSSE, Lek Wi Lan and other education partners. MBSSE will take over full management of the Knowledge Platform, which will include quality assurance of partner resources and the uploading of the resources. Notably, the Knowledge Platform is a host for MBSSE resources that are generated by the sector, not just Leh WI Lan.”
He said that the platform will assist school-level stakeholders, including school leaders, parents guardians, community members and even students to access useful teaching and learning resources.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Education Officer PRO Yatta Kanu, Salaymatu Koroma said, “this is another milestone for MBSSE to develop a Knowledge Platform that can serve as a digital repository platform of information and resources for the MBSSE, and the education sector.”
She said that the Knowledge Platform is developed after series of consultation between MBSSE/TSC and the major players in the education sector.
This platform is developed by Leh Wi Lan, a programme that is funded by FCDO for MBSSE and the education sector as a whole. MBSSE will now have the responsibility to manage the platform. However, we will rely on partners to continuously provide us with the necessary resources to update the platform and make it useful for the intended purpose.
“On behalf of the Minister and the Leadership of MBSSE and the Government of Sierra Leone, I launch this Knowledge Platform and open it for use by MBSSE and its partners and all interested parties.”
