The scene crime officer at the Scientific Support Unit, Police Constable 13274 Hassan Bangura on Monday, October 31, 2022 narrated the roles he played on the alleged murder investigation of one Memunatu Bangura.
The accused persons Mai Dumbuya, Tamba Lebbie, Alfred Kargbo, Ishmael Samura and Peter Kalokoh are standing trial before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No1 on two counts of conspiracy and murder contrary to law.
According to the police, the accused persons on Sunday, May 5, 2022, at Big Water, Main Peninsula Road, Goderich conspired with persons unknown to murder Memunatu Bangura.
Testifying further, the scene of crime officer informed the court that he is attached at the Scientific Support Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Freetown.
According to him, his roles were to visit scene where crimes are committed, witness postmortem examination and notably took photographs.
He recalled Wednesday, May 11, 2022 when he witnessed the conduct of autopsy by the Chief Medical Pathologist, Dr. Owiss Koroma on the remains of the deceased Memunatu Bangura at the Connaught mortuary.
The witness said when the postmortem was ongoing he used his digital camera to took photographs and printed them to pictures.
He further stated that the photographs have been in his custody which he produced and tendered in court to form part of the evidence.
Having taking into cognizance the absence of the Defense Counsel Emmanuel T. Koroma Esq., Magistrate Ngegba adjourned the matter to Monday, November 7, 2022 for cross-examination, while the accused were incarcerated.
