LRMG Recognised for Supporting FBC

On February 8, 2023, Leone Rock Metal Group served as the grand chief patron in the inauguration ceremony of the president elect of student union government, Fourah Bay College (FBC). The company was singled out from other corporate institutions in Sierra Leone because of its excellent corporate social responsibility  projects and for supporting especially education in the country.

In his speech, the president’ elect Mr Alfred M Sesay acknowledged the many supports Leone Rock Metal Group has offered to the university in kind and cash, especially its timely intervention in providing an operational bus to the university when the administration was in dire need of one. He said, “As a body, we are grateful to have a mining company in Sierra Leone that have the interest of the people and one that supports the government’s agenda in promoting accessible and quality education.

“Leone Rock Metal Group is the only institution that came to our rescue and supported the student union body with a modern bus which has been helpful in salvaging the transportation crisis students were faced with,” he said. He then presented a citation to the company which was humbly received by Mr Charlie Chen – deputy General Manager of Leone Rock Metal Group.

On behalf of the company, Mr Charlie told the elected executives that the company anticipates that the body values leadership just as Leone Rock Metal Group and it effect it has on giving a direction, goal, mentorship, and inspiration to all. He highlighted some of the possibilities and the many challenges the student union would experience. However, he encouraged them to be steadfast and work as a team in ensuring they achieve the many objectives they look out for. He said that the Leone Rock Metal Group will always support when necessary and wished them the best of luck in executing their activities.
