Bike Rider Sentenced to Three Months

Momoh Swaray, a bike rider in Kenema City, has been sentenced to three months in  prison or pay an alternative fine of three hundred New Leones (NLe 300.00) after he was guilty of violating traffic rules by the Resident Magistrate, Garson Macarthy of Court No.2  in Kenema.

The accused was arrested and charged to Court on Friday, April 28, 2023 by the Traffic Unit of the Sierra Leone Police for violating the traffic rules and regulations in the Country.

Momoh Swaray was charged to Court on five counts including riding an unregistered motorcycle, riding an unlicensed motorcycle, riding an uninsured motorcycle, riding without driving licence, and riding when not covered by the third-party Insurance policy risks.

He pleaded guilty of the offences and begged for mercy. He was sentenced to three-month in prison or pay a fine of three hundred New Leones (NLe 300.00) on counts one, two and three, and cautioned and discharged on counts four and five.

The matter was prosecuted by Police Constable 13536 Moseray, attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department, Kenema Police Division.
