Partial results announced by the Electoral Commission Siera Leone (ECSL) on Monday put the presidential Candidate of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Dr Julius Maada Bio on the lead in the presidential race.
Bio pulled 1,067, 666 votes while his main rival Dr. Samura Kamara of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) pulled 793, 751 votes tallied so far.
The Chief Electoral Commissioner, ECSL, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh said, “These represent 60 percent of total polling station results processed from each district cleared by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone result management system at regional tally centres in Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni and Port Loko.”
He said that the results do not represent the complete outcome of the presidential election.
He said that the final certified and remaining 40% of the results will be announced within the next 48 hours.
