Two Dead, 70 ‘Protesters’ arrested

At least two people have died as a result of gunshot injuries during a protest in the east of Freetown on Monday.

 The Head of Media at the Sierra Leone Police, Assistant Commissioner Brima Kamara have confirmed the deaths on Tuesday, adding that 72 individuals are in police custody for “illegal protest”. He said that the arrests were made in Goderich, Waterloo and mountain division.

The victims were said to have died after being hit by stray bullets.

The head of media said an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding their death.
