A security guard Yankuba Swarray, 39, was on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, sent on remand by Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 for allegedly stealing Laptop, JSK generator and others assorted items from Jungle Beach Bar.
The accused was charge with two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and larceny contrary to section 2 of The Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on count one, the accused on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Jungle Beach Bar along Lumley Beach Road in Aberdeen, Freetown conspired with other persons unknown to commit larceny.
Whiles count two added that the accused on the same date and place, stole one JSK big power generator, one HP Laptop computer, one four burner cooker, one 45 inches Panasonic plasma television, and other assorted items, all equivalent to Nle 90,000 (ninety thousand nine hundred new Leones), property of the management of the Jungle Beach Bar whilst in custody of Sandra Sesay.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty. No legal representation was made on his behalf.
The prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Marie Sesay informed the court that her witnesses were absent and therefore could not proceed with the matter and requested adjournment.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to October 25, 2023, for further hearing.
