Man Jailed for Fraud

Foday Kamara on Monday 23 October 2023 made his first appearance before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No 1 for obtaining Le 300 million from Josephus Sallu Mannah by falsely pretending that he has four plots of land for sale at Mamama beach.

The accused was arraigned on three counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, obtaining money by false pretenses and causing money to be paid, all contrary to law.

The charge sheet indicates that the accused on diverse date between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022 in Freetown conspired with other persons to commit a crime.

It was further alleged that the accused on the same date  obtained Le 300 million from Josephus Sallu Mannah by falsely pretending that he has one acre land for sale at Mamamah  Beach knowing same to be false.

The charge sheet shows that the accused on the same date fraudulently caused Josephus to pay Le 45 million to another person to develop a piece of land at Mamamah beach knowing same to be false.

After the charges were read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty,

The prosecutor Inspector Sellu Tap sought an adjournment.

The accused was remanded in custody until October 30, 2023 when the matter comes up again for hearing.
