Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens yesterday ordered Kutubu Koroma, a resident in Maryland, USA, to pay NLe1,500,000 (Le,1,500,000,000) as compensation to the Plaintiffs, John Akar Foundation and Yada Williams Esq., for his libelous and defamatory publications on social media, ‘Salone Tok Forum.’

In his judgment, Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens said, “This Honourable Court orders the Defendant herein Kutubu Koroma pay for and cause to be published in conspicuous places of three widely read newspapers in Sierra Leone and on all social media platforms a retraction and an apology for the said libel, the context of which should be procured by the Plaintiffs.”

The court has also granted an Injunction restraining the Defendant Kutubu Koroma and/or his servants or agents or howsoever otherwise from further publication of the said libel and any other matter touching and concerning the Plaintiffs.

By a Writ of Summons dated the 26th day of October 2022, the Plaintiffs claimed damages for libel contained in two separate articles of and concerning the Plaintiffs written and published by the Defendant in several social media forums.
