Eastern Filmmakers Union Mourns Death of Movie Director By Ibrahim S.Bangura

Eastern Filmmakers Union is mourning the death of Ibrahim Benson Kargbo, aka IB4, a movie director in the east of Freetown, who recently died after several months of illness.

The 35-year-old was also an actor and film producer. He started a career in the film industry at an early age when he was inspired and motivated by his friends and family.

He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Legacy Pictures Production, and he directed several movies with different film production outlets. Some of the movies he produced include ‘Misery of Life’ under Competent Film Production, ‘Josephin’s Birthday’, with Esteem Film Production, among others.

According to one of the executive members of the Eastern Filmmakers Union, Amadu Jalloh, popularly known as Director Russia, the late man was ready to change the narrative of Sierra Leone’s film industry. “I realized this through his ability to organize entertainers, including music makers to see that we work for the benefit of our industry, but not for oneself. Late Kargbo did not only pay his attention to filmmaking, but also music making. He used to make music video clips for up-and-coming artists. He was good in his own way. The union loves him, but God loves him the most. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” Jalloh said.

Alvin Samba, one of the fans of the late man, in grief and surprise stated, “Ib4 na so you treat we? Wow, this is unbelievable. Oh Allah! we nor dae question you. IB4, May your gentle soul rest well, brother.”
