Gbalamuya Customs Compliments Govt Revenue Mobilization

By Alhassan Spear Kamara

State revenue officials at the Gbalamuya customs post in the Kambia District under the dynamic supervision of Mr. Edward Jusu, are working right round the clock to mobilize the much-needed revenue for the Government of Sierra Leone through the National Revenue Authority (NRA). Stakeholders have described the work of the customs officials as a laudable achievement.

In their relentless efforts  to discourage the rates at which  smuggling of custom goods are being carried out by unpatriotic Sierra Leoneans within border district town of Kambia and its environs,  the head of the  Anti-Smuggling Unit at the Gbalamuya Customs Border MR. PETER B. DAWAH has teamed up with  members of the  security forces ( SLP/RSLAF) on effective day and night border patrols within the Gbalamuya Customs border bypass routes, including  security crossing points, to track down tax evaders.

Speaking to this press over the weekend on the phone line to Gbalamuya the experienced and versatile Customs Officer Mr. Peter B. Dawah disclosed that the Migration Information Data Analysis System (MIDAS) was in operation at the Gbalamuya border manned by the security forces, noting that all vehicles, motorbikes, travellers and goods are thoroughly searched before going through the Gbalamuya Customs border crossing points.

A vox pop interview conducted with stakeholders of Kambia district by this medium revealed that the current leadership at the Gbalamuya customs have done an excellent job at the post.
