Man in Case of Aggravated Robbery on Woman at Home

Mohamed Kalokoh Kamara, 22, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on the charges of Robbery with Aggravation and Robbery. 

The Police are claiming that, Kamara, the accused, armed with a knife, on January 20, 2024, Robbed one Isatu Kanu, his victim, at a place named Damaya, somewhere at Hill Station in Freetown, of property worth Le 550. In respect of the crime of Robbery in the second charge, the Police said that the accused on the same date and place armed with a knife robbed Sunny Pujeh Koroma of his properties to the total value of Le 2,105.

Inspector Lahai M. Led the first prosecution witness, Isatu Kanu, a businesswoman in evidence. Kanu started her testimony by making known to the court that he recognized the accused in the case, and recalled that on January 20, 2024, her husband left home for work leaving her and her two younger brothers.

She added that she was alone outside cooking in the, with the door open. She added that when she went into her kitchen and returned outside she met the accused packing her things from her room.

She added that after she confronted the accused, he threatened her with a knife, saying if she shouted he would kill her.

The witness further that she was scared at that moment, so the accused then took her bag, put her husband’s working tools in it, and jumped through the window. She said that after the accused had fled, she then went out and shouted “thief” and luckily someone was outside who saw the accused entered an unfinished building. She said she called her husband after informing him about what had happened and they decided to report the matter at the police station.

The witness concluded that sometime later she met the accused watching football game at Old School, while putting on clothes which belonged to her husband, and he was then caught with her mobile phone, keys, carpenter plane, and was brought to the police station.

Magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned the matter to February 9, 2024 for further hearing.
