“The Accused Persons Never Threatened To killed Me Physically”-Says Law school Director

The Director of Sierra Leone law school Doctor Abubakar Bangura has on Wednesday 19th June, 2024 before Magistrate Santigie Bangura confirmed in court that some persons who had been charged for soliciting to kill him had never confronted nor threatened to kill him by any physical means.

He made this statement during cross examination by defense Counsel Charles Pujeh on behalf of the accused who allegedly hired an herbalist to kill the complainant Abubakar Bangura.

Answering further to questions put to him by lawyer Pujeh, the witness agreed that the information he received in respect of the allegation had come from a third party.

When he was confronted by lawyer Pujeh that he was the one who went to the farm of the accused persons and arrested them, he denied and said it was the police who arrested and took the accused persons to the police station in Port Loko.

Witness Bangura furthered that he did not know what the accused persons had been planning against him, adding that he had been informed by Alusine Kamara whom he never knew before and that he recorded the conversation.

He further stated that he does not have any relationship with the accused persons.

Answering further to questions, witness Bangura said it was on a Saturday that the informant gave him the information, but that he could not remember the exact date, adding that the information was passed on to him via a telephone conversation.

The witness furthered that when the informant was being given to him he requested for Alusine Kamara to meet him at his law firm, and he told him to his face that the accused had planned to kill him.

He said himself and the accused were having land issues at the High Court in Port Loko.

He said he did not like neither hate them and said the accused has never confronted him neither threatened him that they were going to kill him.

At the end of the cross examination, the matter was adjourned to the 21st of June, 2024 whiles the accused persons continue to be on bail.

The accused were arraigned before the court on a count charge of Soliciting to murder contrary to section 4 of the offense against the person act 1861.

It was alleged that the accused on Saturday 20th April, 2024 at Rokon Village, Magbina Chiefdom in Port Loko district, solicited the service of a herbalist Alusine Kamara to kill Doctor Abubakar Bangura.
