Defense Witness Testifies in Case of Treason

Madam Kadiatu Bundu Caulker, the first defense witness for the second accused Sergeant Ibrahim Bundu Kamara, alias Amerikin, has on Monday 1st July 2024 testified before Judge Advocate Mark Ngegba and members of the board of the ongoing Court Martial trials. 

 Madam Bundu was led in evidence by the defense counsel I. A. Kamara Esq. She first informed the Court that she is a business woman who stays at Goderich, and added she recognized the second accused as her nephew and recalled that on Sunday 26th November 2024.

She furthered that on that day around 5:00 am in the morning whiles she was about to do ablution for prayer, her phone rang.

She added that upon picking the call, she got an information about happenings that were going on at Wilberforce.

She said she immediately called the second accused Ibrahim Bundu Kamara to check on him to know if he was safe as he was attached at Wilberforce Barracks.

The witness further that she then called the second accused several times, but could not get him.

She added that in the evening at around 7:00 pm after prayer, the witness called the accused’s younger sister Fatmata Bundu Kamara to know if they had heard about the fighting.

Madam Caulker said that after she had spoken to her, she went through the family Whatsapp group and saw a picture of the accused person in handcuffs with injuries to his face.

She furthered that on the following day the wife of the accused, Isha Kamara, called her and gave her information about that the accused had been taken to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department, but that he was seriously ill.

After the completion of her testimony, the witness was cross examined by State Prosecutor J. A. K. Sesay Esq.

The matter was then adjourned to Wednesday 3rd July 2024 for another witness to testify.
