Police Officer on Remand for Murder

Abu Bakarr Yillah, 47, a police officer attached to the Operations Support Division of the Sierra Leone Police stationed in Kambia was on Thursday 22nd August 2024 sent to prison by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No: 2 for allegedly murdering Fasineh Bangura.

The accused made his first appearance in court where the charge of Murder was read and explained to him.

State prosecutors are claiming that Yillah on Wednesday 13th July 2022, at Yana Village, at Tambakha Yombagie Chiefdom, in the Karene Judicial murdered Fasineh Bangura.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused no plea was taken and no legal representation was made on his behalf.

The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh informed the court that his witnesses were absent and therefore could not proceed with the matter in the circumstance requested for an adjournment to subpoena them. 

Magistrate Bangura however admitted the accused person to bail and remanded him in prison, and adjourned the matter to the  26th of August 2024.
