Freetown, Sierra Leone – Four individuals, including David Koroma, Noah Kamara, Mohamed Konneh, and Gloria Kargbo, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, facing charges related to armed robbery and receiving stolen goods.

The accused are facing four charges, including conspiracy, aggravated robbery, and receiving stolen property, all in violation of Sierra Leone’s laws. According to court documents, the first three accused—David Koroma, Noah Kamara, and Mohamed Konneh—allegedly conspired with others on September 6, 2024, to commit robbery with aggravation. The charge falls under Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act No. 16 of 1971.

The prosecution claims that the accused, armed with cutlasses, iron rods, and knives, carried out the robbery at Sandy Drive, New Jersey, Angola Town, and Ogoo Farm. During the robbery, they reportedly stole valuable items from two victims, Isatu Conteh and Idrissa Sesay. The stolen goods were said to be worth a total of NLe 47,150. The accused also allegedly used personal violence during the incident.

In addition, Gloria Fatima Kargbo faces charges of receiving stolen property. The prosecution alleges that on the same day, at Kogbo I, Ogoo Farm, Goderich, Kargbo knowingly received three pairs of stolen sandals belonging to one of the victims, Isatu Conteh, with a total value of 300 leones.

After the charges were read in court, the accused did not enter pleas. As they were unrepresented by a lawyer, Magistrate Kekura ordered their remand at the Male and Female Correctional Centres. The case has been adjourned to October 1, 2024, for further hearings.

This case has raised concerns about the growing trend of violent robberies in Freetown’s residential areas, with residents calling for stricter law enforcement to curb the rising crime rate.
