To foster transparency and accountability on assigned duties and responsibilities, the Foundation of Rural and Urban Transformation, FORUT, on Friday, September 27, 2024, submitted its yearly report on work done to stakeholders and board members. The event held at the Waterloo council hall saw the donation of learning material to over 300 pupils.
Speaking on the purpose of the meeting, Executive Director of the Foundation of Rural and Urban Transformation, Boi Jeneh Jalloh said the meeting is not only for integrity and transparency purposes but also to help parents especially women in parenting their children in education.
She said they also work on addressing child rights issues including issues about children not going to school; children struggle to get their daily bread; and vulnerable and the children physically challenged children.
Director at the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Foday Sesay said education is one of children’s primary needs, adding that depriving them of learning means you are violating their rights which the Ministry is not taking lightly. He said the Ministry will continue to work and support FoRUT in all their venture about children matters.
Alhassan Jalloh, Project Coordinator of FoRUT, spoke on the key five project budgetary activities that their organization has exercised which include the Alcohol Drugs Development Project; Children Rights; Gender Equality; Metal Health, and the Livelywood Project.
He explained that each project has its budget line and activities.
National Coordinator, Sierra Leone Non-Governmental Organization, SLANGO, Alice Nenneh James said without looking or investigating further, FoRUT has been so transparent and committed to duties and has proven itself in many ways.
She said that it is the first organization to submit its yearly report to stakeholders.
