Julian Jusu, 21, on Monday, November 25, 2024, made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on two counts of Larceny contrary to section 2 of The Larceny Act of 1916 and Malicious Damage contrary to section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Attaya base Blue House, IMATT in Freetown did steal nine rolls 4 M.M.A.C cables and twelve rolls 2.5 M.M cables all valued at twenty-five thousand three hundred and fifty Leones(25,350), property of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Mr Mohamed Lamin Tarawalie whilst in custody of Hassan Turay.
Count two further states that on the same date and place, the accused maliciously damaged nine rolls 4 M.M.A.C cables and twelve rolls 2.5 M.M cables all valued at twenty five thousand three hundred and fifty Leones(25,350), property of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice while in the custody of Hassan Turay.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K led in prosecution witness number one Hassan Turay who is a caretaker at the residence of the Attorney General. The witness said he knew the accused in the community and remembered what happened on November 3, 2024.
Hassan noted that during the night at around 8 pm, he was walking around the house when he met the accused drawing cables at the house. He said he then called his friend Idrissa who helped him take the accused to the police station. The accused was not represented by a lawyer.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused to admit the accused on bail.
The matter was adjourned to November 28, 2024, for further hearing.
