Parliament summons sports officials

The Public Accounts Committee of Sierra Leone Parliament has summoned top sports officials to a public hearing to examine the ‘financial management’ and ‘operational practices’ of the National Sports Authority, the Ministry of Finance, the Accountant General’s Department, and a few traveling agencies.

The hearing, set to take place on Tuesday in the House of Parliament, will scrutinize these institutions and some top individuals regarding finances and sports activities from 2020 to 2024, according to a statement from parliament.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Salieu K. Jusu, Executive Director of NSA Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, Former NSA ED Dr. Kenneth Brima, Sports Ambassador Charlie Bio Jr., officials from the Leone Stars Technical Team, and heads of traveling agencies have all been invited to the hearing.

The Committee has requested the submission of key documents by the hearing date, including bonus records for Leone Stars players, a list of competitions held between 2020 and 2024, disbursement schedules, and air ticket purchasing procedures.

The technical team has also been ordered to provide information on player selection, fitness evaluations, training techniques, and team cohesion.

The PAC has warned that failure to comply with the summons could result in further actions.
