Freetown, January 9, 2025 – In a move to improve the efficiency of the judicial system, Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Komba Kamanda, has issued a directive ensuring that all bail applications are processed promptly and efficiently. According to a recent directive from the Master and Registrar to all registrars, bail applications must be processed between 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm daily.
This designated timeframe has been established to provide the Senior Administrative Officer with ample time to process all bail applications effectively. The new directive is part of a broader effort to streamline court processes, reduce delays, and ensure timely justice for all individuals involved in the legal system.
“Failure to comply with this directive will be considered a serious disciplinary offense,” the directive warns, highlighting the importance of adherence to the new guidelines.
By prohibiting the deferral of bail application processing to the end of the day, the directive emphasizes the necessity of maintaining an efficient and responsive judicial process. This initiative reflects a commitment to upholding justice and ensuring that court operations run smoothly and effectively.
This latest directive from Chief Justice Kamanda underlines the ongoing efforts to enhance the judicial system in Sierra Leone, with the ultimate goal of delivering timely justice and improving the overall efficiency of court operations.
