A vibrant new chapter in community development unfolded on Saturday, January 11, 2025, with the official launch of the Fourah Bay Bombay Road Organisation. The ceremony, held at the Freetown Link International Hall, Mountain Cut, Central Freetown, drew stakeholders, local dignitaries, and members of the diaspora connected to Fourah Bay Road, Bombay Street, Mammy Yoko, Patton Street, and surrounding areas.

The event featured spirited performances by the Sabanor dancers, contributions from other organizations, and pledges of support from both in-person and online participants.

Mission and Goals

The Fourah Bay Bombay Road Organisation is committed to fostering community and human development through initiatives such as scholarships for underprivileged students, improving access to water, and empowering the youth.

In his keynote address, Abdul Karim Koroma Jr., affectionately known as “AKK,” emphasized the importance of the organisation in uniting the community. “We are dedicated to supporting our people and building stronger relationships that will pave the way for a brighter future,” he said, pledging continued support to the organisation’s mission.

Financial and Community Support

Amadu Sarkoh, the organisation’s Financial Secretary, expressed gratitude to supporters, especially those from the diaspora. He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to uplifting communities and contributing to national progress.

Elkanah Harding, the Home-based Chairman, shared insights into the organisation’s origins, describing it as a heartfelt response to the need to give back to the community. “Empowering youth and supporting education is our way of complementing the government’s efforts in national development,” Harding stated.

Future Plans

Harding also unveiled plans to extend the organisation’s reach through donations and other initiatives aimed at local residents. “This is just the beginning,” he remarked, highlighting the group’s dedication to holistic community development.
