SLFA Sets March 1st for Ordinary Congress in FreetownBy Desmond Tunde Coker

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced that its 2024 Ordinary Congress will take place on March 1, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown. The announcement was made through an official statement issued by the SLFA Executive Committee on January 13, 2025, in accordance with Article 26, Paragraph 2 of the SLFA statutes.

The statement emphasized the need for members who wish to submit candidates for SLFA Independent and Judicial bodies to adhere to the guidelines outlined in Article 25, Paragraph 8.

Further details, including the specific venue in Freetown and the formal convocation of the Congress, will be communicated at a later date as per Article 26, Paragraph 4 of the statutes.

In a move aimed at fostering internal resolution, the SLFA acknowledged the Sierra Leone Court’s request that football-related matters be settled internally to avoid further legal actions. Copies of the announcement have been shared with related bodies, including the Premier League Board (PLB), Women’s PLB, and the Western Area Football Association (WAFA).

Key officials named in the announcement include SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima and Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, along with several prominent members of the football community.

The Ordinary Congress is expected to address critical issues within the football family and provide a platform for discussions on the future of Sierra Leonean football.
