Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road Court No. 2 has ordered the sureties of Patricia Laverly to produce her on the next adjourned date or face further action. This decision was made on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, after the accused was again absent from court.

State counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay mentioned the case, noting the absence of the accused. Defense lawyer M.S. Koroma explained that Laverly was absent due to health reasons and had applied for an extension of her medical leave at the high court, which had not yet been heard. He requested an additional date, emphasizing the sureties’ commitment to the case.

Sesay argued that the defense’s repeated absences and unrenewed medical leave application constituted contempt of court. He stressed the need to proceed with the case and urged the defense to seek an extension from the high court.

Magistrate Bangura, after hearing both sides, ordered the sureties to produce Laverly on the next adjourned date or face necessary action. The matter was adjourned to February 5, 2025.

It is recalled that Patricia Laverly is facing charges for assaulting the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Madam Nabila Farida Tunis.
