Freetown, Sierra Leone – Frank John Langba, 19, was sent to the High Court for further trial by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Monday, February 3, 2025, for alleged burglary and larceny.
Langba faces charges of burglary and larceny contrary to sections 25 (1) and 13 (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. The charges stem from an incident on July 2, 2024, at Regent Road Lumley in Freetown, where Langba allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Fatmata Binta Bangura with the intent to steal. He is accused of stealing a 42-inch plasma television, two speakers, and fiscal cash amounting to 6,250 new Leones, all properties of Fatmata Binta Bangura.
In his submission before the committal, Magistrate Kekura noted that the prosecution called three witnesses, including the formal witness who tendered various exhibits. Langba, who was unrepresented in court, cross-examined all the prosecution witnesses himself.
Magistrate Kekura stated that while Langba initially denied the allegations, he later admitted to stealing the items from Bangura’s dwelling house. Based on the evidence presented, Magistrate Kekura concluded that sufficient evidence had been established against Langba to warrant his committal to the High Court.
The case has been committed to the High Court for further trial pursuant to the Criminal Procedure Act . Langba remains on bail as the legal proceedings continue.
