Freetown, February 12, 2025 – Mohamed Barrie’s late goal clinched Kamboi Eagles’ first Premier League win of the season, defeating Freetonians SLIFA 3-2 in an intense match in the ongoing Leone Rock Premier League.
Kwami John opened the scoring for the Eagles, but Issa Kargbo quickly leveled for SLIFA. Barrie then scored his first goal, only for Banious Bangura to equalize again. In the 88th minute, Barrie struck once more, securing a crucial victory for Kamboi Eagles and lifting them out of the drop zone, easing the pressure on Coach Jack Tonye Charles.
The Easterners, who were promoted to the Premier League this season, had already lost three matches and drawn one. Coach Charles emphasized that this victory would serve as a springboard for future wins. Kamboi Eagles now sit in 13th position with seven points from eight matches.
On the other hand, Freetonians SLIFA has dropped into the relegation zone after suffering their fifth loss of the season. They have managed only one win and two draws so far. SLIFA will next face Bullum Stars, while the Eagles will host Freetown City FC.
Fans are optimistic that Kamboi Eagles will build on this victory and secure more wins in the coming matches. The team’s performance in this match has demonstrated their potential and determination to succeed in the Premier League.
