The Court of Appeal is set to hear the case of Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray versus the State on Thursday, February 20, 2025, according to a notice that was served to both the State and the lawyers representing the accused.

This development follows the conviction of Kamarainba Mansaray for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old schoolgirl. Judge Samuel Omodale Taylor handed down a 32-year prison sentence to Kamarainba Mansaray. The prosecution alleged that the incident occurred on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2020, in Koidu city, Kono District, with Kamarainba and his co-accused, Marion Aruni, who is reportedly the girl’s aunt, participating in the crime.

Kamarainba was found guilty on eight counts despite his denial. The court had granted bail to Kamarainba last year.

The proceedings will take place at the Law Courts Building in Freetown. This case has attracted significant public attention, and the upcoming appeal hearing is expected to be closely followed by the media.
