Falaba District, Sierra Leone – The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan Hunt, recently visited Falaba District in Northern Sierra Leone, where he engaged stakeholders of political parties and beneficiaries of a U.S.-funded project.

Ambassador Hunt met with leaders from the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and the All Peoples Congress (APC). He emphasized the United States’ support for Sierra Leone’s ongoing democratization process and the importance of fully implementing both the Agreement for National Unity and the Tripartite Committee’s recommendations on electoral reforms. Ambassador Hunt highlighted that maintaining peace and stability in Sierra Leone is a shared interest for both Americans and Sierra Leoneans.

While in Falaba District, Ambassador Hunt also visited beneficiaries of a Special Self-Help grant. This grant has provided training for farmers in beekeeping, honey harvesting, and wax production. Since the grant’s implementation, several trainees have successfully established businesses, offering sustainable livelihoods for their families and communities. Ambassador Hunt noted that such enterprises diversify Sierra Leone’s economy and create opportunities for American trade and investment.
