The race for the lone spot in Sierra Leone’s Premier League is in full swing as the Men’s Division-1 T20 Cricket League enters its third week. With 12 teams battling fiercely, excitement continues to build as the competition unfolds at the Prince of Wales Cricket grounds.
This Saturday, Dun Dee Cricket Club will face Vintage in a pivotal match as they look to solidify their lead in the 12-team qualifier. Since the league’s commencement on March 29, 2025, nine games have already been completed. The tournament will feature 30 matches in total, concluding on May 4, 2025. Only the top team will earn a coveted place in the Premier League, scheduled to begin on May 12 and run for two months.
Dun Dee Cricket Club, a new entrant in the competition, currently tops the table with four points after two matches and a net run rate of 1.893. Following closely is Newton, who have played three matches, securing two wins and suffering one loss.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Women’s Division-1 T20 Cricket League is progressing alongside the men’s tournament. Six teams are competing, with Dun Dee Female Cricket Team leading the standings. They have played three matches, winning two and tying one. Three teams from the women’s league will secure spots in the Female Premier League.
Last year, Wanderers emerged from the Men’s Division-1 to qualify for the Premier League, while Newton and Crusaders advanced from the women’s side to the Women’s Premier League, boasting dominant performances.
As the matches intensify, cricket fans across Sierra Leone eagerly await the outcome of this thrilling competition.
