Amara Dennis Turay commonly known as Kao Denero, a Sierra Leonean rapper, has been nominated by the 256 Hiphop Awards for the African Rapper of the Year 2020 Award .
The award will be organized by the Konnected Foundation Inc. & the Kulture 256, a non-profit corporation based in Uganda which is dedicated to providing opportunities in arts and entertainment in Uganda. The Foundation recognizes the work of artists in Africa who have made positive impact in hip hop within the Africa continent.
The 256 Hiphop Awards nominated rappers across the African continent like: Kao Denero of Sierra Leone, M.I. Abaga of Nigeria, Nasty C of South Africa, Jovi of Cameroon, Sarkodie of Ghana, and Bigtril of Uganda, Khaligraph Jones of Kenya, Black Bonez of Nigeria, Lyrical Joe of Ghana and Youngsta Cpt of South Africa.
Kao Denero is a Sierra Leonean rapper and the founder of Black Leo Entertainment who has made great impact in the entertainment industry across Africa.
In his career as a musician, which he started in his youth, he has recorded and released over 300 songs in 10 albums. Some of his albums include ‘Black Leo 4 Life’, which he released in 2003 as his first album, ‘Stories From Freetown’, ‘King of Africa’ is the third album which released in 2005 and others.
Kao became well-known throughout West Africa and the West African diaspora throughout the world.
Kao has won many national awards
In January 2020, he released a diss track titled ‘Kenyatta’ against Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones and that song has been his most trending this year.
