Sierra Leone: Woman remanded for alleged wounding

Mariama Kamara, 24, on Friday June 19, 2020 made her first appearance before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court No.1 on Pademba Road, Freetown. The accused person is being preliminarily investigated on crimes of conspiring, intentionally wounding and assaulting Ajima Bayoh to cause her serious body pain.

Police alleged that the accused Mariama Kamara alias “mummy Kay” on Friday  June 12, 2020, at SS Camp, Regent, in the Mountain Rural District, conspired with other persons to commit the abovementioned  offences.

According to the victim, she had been beaten by six women with a blunt and a sharp object, which caused multiple wounds on the scalp of her head and on her upper back. She added that the wound she suffered received 25 stitches while he was being treated medically.

The clinical findings also revealed that there were scratch wounds on the face around her neck and human bite on the left ring finger which had the nail pulled off.

Magistrate Hannah Bonnie ordered for the remand of Kamara at the end of the proceedings, and the matter was adjourned to   Friday June 26, 2020.
