Principal Magistrate Hannah Bonnie has on Tuesday June 23, 2020, admitted one Joseph Thullah, who was charged with the offence of dishonestly transforming over 1000 concrete bricks valued at Le 26,000,000 million.
Thullah is accused of fraudulently converting property valued over Le 26 million which was given to him by Mariatu Jelikatu Sesay for safe keeping.
The accused is being preliminarily investigated for the crime of fraudulent conversion contrary to law.
According to the particulars of the offence on Wednesday May 6, 2020 at Gbangbahilla phase two in Hill Station, Thullah, the accused, fraudulently converted to his use and benefit about 1000 concrete bricks valued over Le 26,000,000 million entrusted to him by Mariatu Jelikatu Sesay.
However, Magistrate Hannah Bonnie admitted the accused to bail in the sum of Le 50, 000,000 one surety in like sum, the surety must be a responsible citizen and a resident of Freetown.
The bail should be approved by the Deputy Acting Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to July 2, 2020 for further hearing.
Similarly, Ibrahim Jalloh, aka Arab money was also arraigned before Magistrate Bonnie on similar offence of obtaining money by false pretenses.
On Wednesday 1st April, 2020 at New Camp, Grafton with intent to defraud the accused allegedly obtained the sum of Le 500,000 from one Rosaline Kargbo by posing as someone who has supernatural power to heal her son from a mental illness.
Police also alleged that, Ibrahim Jalloh, the accused obtained the sum of Le 19,500,000 from Rosaline Kargbo as healing fee to heal her son Simeon Kargbo from the disease.
After the charges were read and explained to the accused he pleaded not guilty.
However, Magistrate Hannah Bonnie admitted him to bail in the sum of Le 20,000,000 two sureties in like sum, who must be a citizen who is resident in Freetown. She added that the sureties must provide valid identification and the bail must be approved by the D.A.R.
A.S.P. Ibrahim S. Mansaray prosecuted the matter and Magistrate Hannah Bonnie adjourned the matter to July 2, 2020.
