Sierra Leone: Music Heals Certifies 22 Pupils at Don Bosco Fambul

Music Heals, a non-profit music organization that was established to transform and empower children, youths, families and communities through free music education, drama, dance, ethics, basic computer courses and mentorship has recently certified 22 pupils who underwent six months of music training at Don Bosco Fambul at During Town in the Western Area.

Simeon Bangura, the founder of the organization, also a music tutor, said that the certification of the pupils will enable them to realize that they have achieved something through their music training.

He said that they trained the children instruments like Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, recording singing and music theory.

“We realized that many children in orphanages and homes could not access music making, so we had this idea to create a means to introduce music education for them. We nurture their creativities, direct them to appreciate music of all types, teach them how to practice by themselves and in a group, teach them to understand the value of hard work and team work and to appreciate the discipline needed to work together.”

He added that they believe that by giving music lessons to children at such position could help ease and relief their stresses.

The Director of the Organization, Father George Mario Chrisafulli, said that he was very happy to see that the children at the organization had been certified by music heals a non-governmental organization who has been helping to ease and relief the children through music.

He said that through the efforts of Music Heals, the children were able to play different musical instruments, create unity among them, build self-confidence and enabled them to realize their talents as musicians.

“I am really happy for Simeon Bangura the director of the Music Heals and the entire members who had been working hard to help the Don Bosco in healing the souls of the children. Since they started, they have never requested anything from us but they are always dedicated and willing to work for the interest of the children.”
