Sierra Leone: China Kingho boosts fight against COVID-19

China Kingho, a company that will resume operation at the Tonkolili Iron ore mines, has on July 3, 2020, donated 20,000 N95 protective face masks to the National Covid-19 Response Centre (NaCOVERC).

“Shortly after the first case was discovered in Sierra Leone, we immediately ordered the masks from China, and were sent by express. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic across the world, it took more than one month to arrive here… Since we are about to start operation soon, more tangible support is expected to come…,” said representative from China Kingho said during a short interview with the journalist.  “Delays in the remobilization of operations in the Tonkolili Mine due to the Pandemic has dislodged the Company’s timeline on production and export.”

However, the Company resolves to start mining soon, as  this is manifested by the number of engagements already completed with sub-contractors who are ready to commence mobilization as soon as major Covid-19 international restrictions are eased.

With many companies in Sierra Leone suffering from low production or closure due to the disastrous consequences of COVID-19, China Kingho is set to kick off its mining project.
